We richten ons op het begrijpen hoe pati\u00ebnten hun bewegingspatronen aanpassen en hoe deze aanpassingen kunnen worden versterkt door middel van gerichte revalidatie.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Kathleen:<\/em><\/strong><em> Mijn onderzoek richt zich op de manier waarop de hersenen vestibulaire signalen coderen en integreren tijdens natuurlijke gedragingen, zoals het sturen van de blik en voortbeweging. Deze mensen missen een cruciaal zintuiglijk systeem voor hun evenwicht, en het apparaat biedt een mogelijke manier om hun waarneming van ori\u00ebntatie en beweging in het dagelijks leven te verbeteren.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator aligncenter has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clinical-study\"><strong>Klinisch onderzoek<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Kunnen jullie de omvang (scope) en opzet (design) van het komende klinische onderzoek met BalanceBelt beschrijven?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We plannen een longitudinale studie waarin pati\u00ebnten met bilaterale vestibulaire hypofunctie de BalanceBelt mee naar huis nemen en gedurende een langere periode dragen tijdens dagelijkse activiteiten. We zullen zowel de klinische resultaten als gedetailleerde kinematische metingen op verschillende tijdstippen beoordelen om de aanpassing en functionele verbetering te evalueren.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Wat maakt dit onderzoek nieuw vergeleken met eerder onderzoek naar evenwichtsstoornissen of sensorische substitutie? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Onze studie combineert het gebruik in de praktijk van een zintuigvervangend apparaat met geavanceerde kwantitatieve analyse van het looppatroon en de houding met behulp van draagbare IMU\u2019s. Hierdoor kunnen we verder kijken dan traditionele klinische schalen en rechtstreeks meten hoe bewegingsstrategie\u00ebn zich in de loop van de tijd ontwikkelen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Op welke pati\u00ebntenpopulatie richten jullie je en waarom?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We richten ons op mensen met bilateraal vestibulair verlies, aangezien zij kampen met ernstige evenwichtsstoornissen en slechts beperkte behandelingsmogelijkheden hebben. Dit zou het aanpassingsproces kunnen versnellen, de functionele mobiliteit kunnen verbeteren en uiteindelijk het valrisico kunnen verminderen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Wat zijn de grootste uitdagingen bij het toepassen van dit soort technologie\u00ebn in de dagelijkse klinische praktijk? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Een grote uitdaging is de acceptatie in de klinische praktijk. Zowel bij zorgverleners als bij pati\u00ebnten bestaat er nog steeds weinig besef dat evenwicht kan worden getraind en verbeterd. Om nieuwe technologie\u00ebn in de standaardzorgtrajecten te integreren, zijn voorlichting, validatie en het aantonen van duidelijke functionele voordelen nodig.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator aligncenter has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-collaboration\"><strong>Samenwerking<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Kunnen jullie uitleggen wat het belang is van een multidisciplinaire aanpak in dit project, zoals de samenwerking met de groep van Kathleen Cullen?<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dankzij de combinatie van klinisch inzicht en de technische expertise van de Cullen-groep kunnen we effici\u00ebnt van concept naar uitvoering gaan.
