Ernstige evenwichtsstoornissen zijn een veel voorkomende oorzaak van vallen. Als je het belang van valpreventie kent, kun je voor een stabiele en gezonde levensstijl zorgen.<\/p>\n<p>Het Nederlands Onderzoekscentrum Letselpreventie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veiligheid.nl\/\">VeiligheidNL <\/a>de nationale Valpreventieweek 2022 uitgeroepen van 3 tot 9 oktober, een week die volledig in het teken staat van bewustwording en kennisverspreiding over valpreventie bij ouderen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wat is het belang van evenwicht en valpreventie?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schade aan de evenwichtsorganen, ook bekend als <em>bilaterale vestibulopathie<\/em>veroorzaakt ernstige evenwichtsstoornissen en daardoor mobiliteitsproblemen. Angst en bezorgdheid zijn gekoppeld aan verminderde activiteit, wat het evenwicht en het risico op vallen kan verslechteren. Evenwichtsstoornissen zoals <em>bilaterale vestibulaire hypofunctie (BVH)<\/em> of <em>bilateraal vestibulair verlies (BVL)<\/em> veroorzaakt evenwichtsproblemen, vooral bij lopen in het donker of op oneffen oppervlakken. Het vermindert het vermogen van de persoon om goed te zien tijdens hoofdbewegingen.
